Laura DeHelian, Ph. D., PMHCNS-BC, APRN

Laura DeHelian earned her bachelor's degree in nursing and master's degree in psychiatric nursing from Case Western Reserve University. After receiving her master's degree, she practiced as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist at St. Luke's Hospital, later acting as Director of Education and then Director of Nursing at Woodruff Hospital. She subsequently earned a master's degree in philosophy from Cleveland State University and a doctorate in applied philosophy from Bowling Green State University with a concentration in moral and social philosophy and philosophy of the mind. She has served as a faculty member at Bowling Green State University, Cleveland State University, and Case Western Reserve University, where she currently teaches courses in both nursing and philosophy. She was a presenter for Cleveland State University’s Division of Continuing Education for more than 25 years teaching a variety of courses for health care professionals.

Dr. DeHelian has provided individual outpatient psychotherapy to adults for more than thirty years. Over the last decade, she has also been providing medication management on an outpatient basis, first in community mental health at Murtis H. Taylor Multi-Service Center and Neighboring, and then in private outpatient practice at Psychological and Behavioral Consultants, and now at Partners for Behavioral Health and Wellness. Her particular treatment interests are anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, concurrent medical illness, and insomnia.
